A Resounding Success: Health & Wellness Carnival Empowers the Community

On a bright and cheerful Saturday, 9 August 2025, a day of health, learning, and community spirit unfolded at the Prudential Health & Wellness Carnival. This meaningful event, co-organised with Island Hospital, also marked the official partnership between Island Hospital and Gleneagles Penang as part of the PRUPanel Plus network. Held at the Grand Lobby of Island Hospital, the carnival attracted a large crowd eager to engage in various health-related activities and gain valuable insights from medical experts.

The carnival kicked off with the highly anticipated official launch of PruPanel Plus, a new initiative aimed at enhancing healthcare access and services for the community. The launch was a momentous occasion, graced by a panel of distinguished guests who shared their vision for a healthier future. The official launch was led by:

Ms. Yong Zi Ling, COO of IHH Northern Region

Ms. Lim Kooi Ling, CEO of Island Hospital

Mr. Ng Bong Seng, Acting CEO of Gleneagles Penang

Ms. Ariel Chan, Head of Provider Management and Connected Care, Prudential

Mr. Kev SK Cheng, Northern 1 Region, Prudential

Following the launch, attendees enjoyed an informative health talk on “Living with Knee Pain: When Is It Time to Consider Total Knee Replacement?” by Dr. Ng Khai Oon, Consultant Orthopaedic & Joint Reconstruction Surgeon. The talk drew great interest, providing practical advice and dispelling common misconceptions about knee health.

The afternoon continued with a series of interactive booths and activities that kept participants engaged. The Dietetic, Ophthalmology, Rehabilitation, and Kids Station booths offered fun and educational experiences for all ages. A highlight of the day was the Blood Donation Drive, which received a heartwarming response from community members, embodying the spirit of “Save a Life, Be a Hero.”

As the event concluded, attendees left with not only exclusive goodie bags but also a renewed commitment to their health and a deeper appreciation for the collaborative efforts of healthcare providers in the region. The Health & Wellness Carnival served as a powerful reminder of the importance of proactive health management and the strength of community partnerships in building a healthier society.
