On 23 August 2025 (Saturday), doctors from across the Asia-Pacific region gathered at Island Hospital, Penang, for the APSOPRS Masterclass in Leadership. Organised by APSOPRS and supported by the Malaysian Society of Ophthalmology (MSOPRS), this one-day event was designed to enhance leadership skills in key areas such as communication, mentorship, and advocacy.
Held at the Seminar Hall, Peel Wing, the masterclass brought together a distinguished line-up of speakers, including Dr. Kasturi Bhattacharjee (India), Dr. Mariam Ghaffar (Canada), and Dr. Jacqueline Angeles (Philippines). Representing Malaysia were Dr. Prashant Subramanian, Dr. Goh Hin Kwang, along with other esteemed speakers from APSOPRS.
A special mention goes to Dr. Vanessa Naseem Neoh, Consultant Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic Surgeon at Island Hospital, who meticulously prepared and coordinated the event, ensuring a smooth and impactful experience for all participants.
The programme featured interactive workshops and reflective exercises that encouraged active participation, collaboration, and hands-on leadership development.
The masterclass was a resounding success, equipping doctors with practical tools to lead confidently in clinical practice, academia, and healthcare organisations.
