World Breastfeeding Week at Island Hospital: A Week of Learning and Support
Island Hospital proudly celebrated World Breastfeeding Week from 1st to 7th August 2024, offering a range of educational activities and support for breastfeeding mothers. The event, held at our Macalister Wing, Level 3 and Level 5, was a tremendous success, with enthusiastic participation from new and expectant mothers.
Throughout the week, attendees engaged in various activities, including interactive sessions on pregnancy nutrition, breastfeeding positions, and creative coloring sessions. As a breastfeeding-friendly hospital, Island Hospital is deeply committed to supporting mothers in their breastfeeding journey, and this event highlighted our dedication to maternal and child health.
A highlight of the week was the special “Breast is Best” talk held on 3rd August at MK Hall, Level 6. The session, led by Dr. Hwang Yee Chern, Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist, provided valuable insights into the benefits of breastfeeding, offering expert advice and practical tips. Following the talk, attendees explored a range of interactive booths designed to further support and enhance their breastfeeding experience.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants for making World Breastfeeding Week at Island Hospital a success. Stay tuned for more events and initiatives dedicated to promoting health and well-being for mothers and babies.
