Island Hospital celebrated a significant milestone in its expansion, the development of the Island Medical City (IMC) on 2nd December 2018, Sunday, by breaking ground on its land situated at Peel Avenue and Pierce Road.

The first stage of IMC’s development will see 300 more hospital beds being added on to its current capacity of 300 beds, to make it Penang’s first 600-bed private hospital.

To complement its functions and to meet healthcare travellers’ demands, medical suites, other ancillary facilities, and a medical tourist hotel, will be built in later stages. Eventually, its long-term plan is to reach a capacity of 1,000 beds.
